Clynes Visiting Professor of Judicial Ethics
Notre Dame has brought many honorable judges and justices to campus as a result of the Clynes Visiting Professorship. Visitors have included Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, Antonin Scalia, as well as the late William Renquist, former Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States and later Chief Justice of the United States.
With this gift, the late Judge James J. Clynes (’45) reflected his strong interest in promoting teaching and lecturing directly related to the ethics of litigation and within the judicial process at the Notre Dame Law School. He served on the Notre Dame Law School Advisory Council from 1983 until his death in 2000.
