A committed teacher, McAdams has taught undergraduate and graduate students at every level of their studies. In the 2012/13 academic year, he is offering two First-Year of Studies seminars, one entitled “Ten Images of Hell in the Twentieth Century” and the other entitled "Communism." The latter seminar is based on his current book project, "The Idea of the Communist Party in the Twentieth Century." McAdams has given lectures about his scholarship around the world. Most recently, he presented a lecture at the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences on the European debt crisis. He also lectured at the Catholic University of Croatia on the fall of communism in eastern Europe. His book, The Crisis of Modern Times, was the exclusive topic of a three-day conference at the Liberty Fund in Indianapolis, and will soon appear in Chinese and Hungarian.
With the establishment of two professorships and a scholarship, the Dr. Scholl Foundation has generously supported Notre Dame over the years. The foundation was funded with an estate gift of the late William M. Scholl, MD, founder of the famous foot-care products business.
