Ted Barron

Judd and Mary Lou Leighton Director for the Performing Arts

Ted Barron is the Judd and Mary Lou Leighton Director for the Performing Arts and the executive director of the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center at Notre Dame, having served as senior associate director of the center since 2010. A concurrent assistant professional specialist in the Department of Film, Television, and Theatre, he also teaches courses in film history, and previously served as senior programmer of the Harvard Film Archive and director of programming at the Coolidge Corner Theatre Foundation. Dr. Barron received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Irvine, focusing his research on American independent film and documentary film, and has received numerous honors for his work in film programming.

The late Judd Leighton, a prominent South Bend civic leader and philanthropist, endowed this position in 2003. Educated at Northwestern University, he served as chairman of the Leighton-Oare Foundation, Inc., and as director of Memorial Health Systems, Inc., of South Bend, Ind.
