Melchor Visiting Professor of Engineering
The Melchor Visiting Professorship supports visiting scholars who enhance the University’s academic community for a semester or full academic year, offering lectures and seminars that engage students and faculty and strengthen Notre Dame’s reputation for excellence in research and instruction.
Jack (’53 Ph.D.) and Norma Melchor endowed this visiting professorship in 1985. Since then, it has attracted many outstanding scholars and engineers to campus. A renowned venture capitalist and high-tech pioneer, Jack founded Hewlett-Packard Associates in 1961, which worked on developing today’s pervasive LED technology.
