Joseph P. Kaboski

The David F. and Erin M. Seng Foundation Associate Professor of Economics

An expert on growth, development, and international economics, Joseph Kaboski joined the Notre Dame faculty in 2010. He comes to Notre Dame from the Ohio State University, where he had served as a member of the economics faculty since 2001.

Kaboski is the principal investigator on a multi-year grant funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to evaluate a Catholic Relief Services microfinance project in East Africa, and its impact on the region’s people and economy. He has conducted similar studies in Thailand and Mexico, with support from the National Institute on Aging and the National Institute of Child Health and Development.

His understanding of the economics of the international community have made him a Faculty Research Fellow of the National Bureau of Economic Research, the nation’s leading nonprofit economic research organization, as well as a valuable adviser to the Federal Reserve Banks of Chicago, Minneapolis, and St. Louis. Kaboski received his PhD in economics from the University of Chicago.

The Seng Professorship was created in 2007, by David F. Seng (’63) and Erin McCabe Seng. David is a member of the College of Arts and Letters Advisory Council and the retired chief operating officer of Atlanta investment counseling firm Montag & Caldwell. Erin is the retired principal of Erin M. Seng Interiors.
