Tony and Sarah Earley Professor of Energy and the Environment

Thomas Degnan joined Notre Dame's faculty in January 2015, having spent 15 years working in catalyst technology at ExxonMobil Research and Engineering and at its predecessor Mobil Technology Company for 19 years. Professor Degnan brings his extensive professional knowledge and expertise in innovation to the University, leading efforts in catalyst development and commercialization. He is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers' Board of Directors, and holds his Ph.D. from the University of Delaware and MBA from the University of Minnesota.

The Tony and Sarah Earley Professor of Energy and the Environment was established in 2008 by Notre Dame parents Tony and Sarah Earley. A Double Domer times two, Tony earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Notre Dame, as well as his law degree and Ph.D. in English.
